MOOSE
During our 2009 moose season we flew in to some uncharted new areas to hunt. I, myself, guided and thoroughly enjoyed the moose camp.
~ Roy Allister of PA scored on a 54" bull, which I am sure will be the highlight of his hunting adventures. Congratulations! I enjoyed guiding you.
~ The wit and humor of Charles and Michael from NJ along with my guide Dave's sense of humor made for an interesting ten days. Michael enjoyed and captured on video, his harvest of a grunting bull, and this moment was shared by his friend, Charles. In turn, Michael and Charles' bull grunting up to him. Friends sharing life time memories.
~ John Travis and Caroll Swenson from NJ traveled up the river system with head guide Donavan but returned after five days, it seems the warm weather delayed the rut. Later John would harvest his bull and even with the extra days we gave to Caroll, he was unable to complete the harvest. Once again we maintain our success at 80% for 2009.
DEER
We had some very loyal clients come back with us here in Canada for the 2009 deer season:
~ Michael Esposito of NJ returned for his third year on a muzzleloader/rifle combination hunt, and hopefully the wolf he so much wanted. No wolf, but he did take two nice bucks once again.
~ Richard Stauffer of PA, a long time repeater (5 moose, 6 deer, 1 bear hunt) ended his week with no success but I am sure he will be back and I am sure he will do well once again.
~ A group of friends from NY --- Pat and Rob Abate, Anthony Truocchio and Vincent Passero booked a combination muzzleloader/rifle with some doubles scored and everyone taking a buck home. I look forward to seeing Rob and Vincent in 2010.
~ Rick Hurley, John Mattingly returning for the third time, brought along Johnny Buck who had everyone in camp rolling in laughter. Johnny would harvest a unique buck. Congratulations!
~ Thank you and congratulations to the boys from PA, John and Mike Holt, Dan Swanson and Scott Ely. I look forward to seeing Dan's buck on that pedestal mount. Thanks for the repeat loyalty.
~ Dave Harrison of PA once again harvested a Manitoba buck on his sixth hunt with us.
~ Pam and Ross Berkhaln of WI, both successful on their first trip with us. Pam's memories of hunting at the out camp will be a lifetime treasure, I'm sure. I look forward to having you once again in 2010.
~ Denny Seefedt and friend Mike from MN, again returned. I personally enjoyed guiding them and compliment them on their efforts in the Northern bush. Stay with it and good things will come.
~ Loyal clients and friends like Pat Scherman and Donavan Schauffer of PA, who once again hunted with me in 2009 and returning in 2010 make this job a pleasure.
I thank all those that have hunted with me in the past 25 years. You keep me going and I hope I keep you coming back.
BEAR
Our 2009 season was excellent, with some very big bears harvested.
~ Congratulations to the bowhunters from NE on their 3rd and 4th hunt with me. I enjoyed guiding them and their accomplishments were a result of their dedication to the sport of bowhunting.
~ Jim Jempson --- you have become an icon with us!
~ Don Ritenour from PA, you hold the record for time spent in a stand for one day (17 hours). Don requested to sit at one of the baits all day. The bait showed signs of a big bear, I put him in at 5:00 a.m. and picked him up at 10:00 p.m. He saw 3 different bears but not the right one. The next day Don harvested one with his bow. Kudos!
~ The bowhunters from VA, Dave Wendt and his group once again enjoyed their successes and we will look forward to providing more memories in June of 2010.
~ Well done to Barry Oleksyk who harvested a very nice boar. I guess purchasing the auction donation at the Southeast Bowhunters Chapter of the Safari Club was a good thing. We look forward to providing memories for your 2010 recipient.
~ Congratulations to Dave Lauer on your great P/Y and look forward to seeing you again in 2011.
~ Our fall hunts once again went very well and we enjoyed the couples of Joe Thomas and his wife, Don and Janice Crook and their achievements. Good job Janice on your P/Y!
~ Kim Engelbert of NY completed the fall harvest, a P/Y green scoring over 21" with his long bow.
